Grilled Brussels Sprouts (They're Actually Good)

Not sure if you've noticed lately... but brussels sprouts are trending. (There's a sentence I never thought I'd say!) If you've lived in pop culture at all during the last 30 years you know that brussels sprouts are the WORST. But now people seem to be asking... Are they really?

If you've never even tried brussels sprouts before, you're not alone, but it may be worth a shot! Below, I've outlined a recipe that (if anything is going to) will make you realize your love for the "forbidden vegetable."

Grilled Brussels Sprouts with Garlic Butter

Ingredients

  • 4 cups brussels sprouts,halved
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • cloves minced garlic (or 3 tsp of the bottled kind if you're lazy like me)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika

Directions

  1. Wash the brussels sprouts. (Be gentle, they've gotten a lot of hate over the years.)

  2. Microwave the brussels sprouts for 4-5 minutes to soften.

  3. If your sprouts have stems, wait until they cool, and cut them off.

  4. You have options here. You can either skewer them, or use a grill mat. I use these metal skewers and this grill mat. Its your preference, but I would recommend the grill mat, because its easier clean up, and you don't have to take the time to carefully place each sprout on a skewer.

  5. Mix together the melted butter and the garlic, and gently toss your sprouts in it.

  6. Place on the grill over direct heat for 8-10 minutes, shifting the sprouts as needed to avoid burning on one side.

I know we've been conditioned to fear the concept of brussels sprouts, but this recipe just might change your mind. However, if you still hate brussels sprouts after trying this, blame the media. Not me.

I hope this helps!

Happy grilling,

Hannah :)

  • Lynn,

Yes! The grillmats are dishwasher safe and made to be reusable! Please don’t throw them away! ;)

  • We will definitely try the brussel sprouts (never thought I would say that!). Are the grill mats reuseable?
